How these alternatives compare
Kodak PixPro Friendly Zoom Compact Camera
The Kodak PixPro Friendly Zoom Compact Camera is significantly smaller and lighter than the AZ255. It measures 3.6 x 2.23 x 0.9 inches and weighs just 3.68 ounces, making it easy to slip into a pocket. While it shares the 16MP resolution, it lacks the 25x optical zoom and AA battery support. You trade reach and battery flexibility for extreme portability. This model suits casual snapshots where you prioritize size over zoom power.
Kodak PixPro WPZ2 Waterproof Camera
The Kodak PixPro WPZ2 Waterproof Camera offers rugged durability that the AZ255 cannot match. It is designed for underwater and water sports, providing waterproof protection for active users. At 6.21 ounces, it is lighter than the 12.5-ounce AZ255, though its dimensions differ slightly. Like the original, it features a 16MP sensor and zoom lens. However, it gives up the long 25x reach and standard battery convenience for weather sealing. Pick this if you need a camera for water activities.
Kodak PIXPRO FZ55 Bundle
The Kodak PIXPRO FZ55 Bundle is a compact entry-level option focused on portability. It features a 16MP sensor and a 28mm focal length, which is much wider than the AZ255’s 24mm wide-angle start but lacks the 25x zoom range. Weighing 5 ounces, it is nearly half the weight of the AZ255. It includes accessories for casual use. You sacrifice optical zoom reach and AA battery support for a smaller form factor and included bundle items. It is ideal for simple, everyday snapshots.
Kodak PIXPRO FZ55 5x Zoom Camera
The Kodak PIXPRO FZ55 5x Zoom Camera is tailored for casual vlogging and family videos. It shares the 16MP resolution but offers only 5x optical zoom, significantly less than the AZ255’s 25x capability. Its 28mm focal length provides a wide view suitable for self-recording. The camera is designed for beginners who want straightforward operation without complex settings. You give up long-range zoom and AA battery convenience for a device optimized for video recording and ease of use in casual settings.
Kodak PIXPRO FZ55 5x Optical Zoom Camera
The Kodak PIXPRO FZ55 Red 16MP is a compact camera valued for its color and wide-angle framing. It features a 28mm focal length and 16MP resolution, similar to other FZ55 models but distinct from the AZ255’s zoom range. It lacks the 25x optical zoom and optical image stabilization found in the original. The camera is lighter and smaller, prioritizing portability and aesthetic appeal over technical reach. It suits casual photographers who want a simple, colorful tool for everyday snapshots without the bulk of a bridge camera.
Kodak PixPro WPZ2 Waterproof Camera
The Kodak PixPro WPZ2 Waterproof Camera in blue is built for underwater and rugged outdoor photography. It provides waterproof protection that the AZ255 does not offer. With a 16MP sensor and zoom lens, it matches the resolution but differs in durability. Weighing 6.21 ounces, it is lighter than the 12.5-ounce AZ255. You trade the 25x optical zoom and AA battery support for weather sealing and rugged construction. This model is the right choice for divers or adventurers who need a camera that can withstand water and rough conditions.
